Males are larger and bright in colour with pointed dorsal fin and thick mouth and the females are smaller with less dominant colour and a rounded up dorsal fin. Discus fish breeding usually takes place on a vertical flat surface.Spawning cone, provides the ideal place for them to lay their eggs, After hatching, the young Discus fish fry feed on heavy body mucus secreted by the parents for a few days until they begin to free-swim.
