CARL PERKINS - The Birth Of Rock 'N Roll ("Class Of '55" 35th Anniversary Edit)

Carl Perkins never received the recognition and success as an artist that he truly deserved for the majority of his career. His peers always gave him that respect, especially his great friend Johnny Cash. Finally in the mid to late 80's even though he was over 50 years old, the resurgence of rockabilly music brought on by Brian Setzer and The Stray Cats, along with those superstars of music who looked up to him as their idol culminating in his classic Cinemax TV special and member of the supergroup "Class Of '55" he got his moment in the sun.

I put together this video for Carl who I still look up to very much, a wonderful man who personally offered me much encouragement the afternoon I got to spend with him on a Nashville Saturday on The Cumberland River in 1996.
