FIVDB is a non-governmental organization which has been working for the development of disadvantaged communities since 1981. FIVDB has been working in early childhood development and primary education for more than three decades. This time FIVDB has teamed up with two other local NGOs: UKBET and Prochesta who also have experience in early childhood development in urban slum and tea gardens.
Children of disadvantaged communities of Bangladesh faces discrimination in terms of health, nutrition, safe environment and early learning service. Government facilities are not adequate to accommodate children from marginalized communities. This results in poor growth and development for the children living in urban slum, remote tea garden areas and coastal area affected by the Rohingya refugees. The team will address this problem by providing early childhood development services in the centers established in the target communities. The children under 6 years of age will receive services for their physical, psychological, cognitive and social development. Over the time FIVDB has developed capacity building programme for parents and caregivers on infant and child care and reading for children program for enabling learning environment at home for the young learners. Introducing digital learning materials and making computer accessible for children will enhance their communication and technological skill. Parents, Caregivers and Communities will be empowered to identify and prioritize the need of children. FIVDB has adapted active teaching learning methodology which is not only limited to classroom teaching learning rather than take a hands on and holistic approach. The graduate children will be able to continue their education. Active community participation in the center management will ensure the success of the project. The performance of children at the center will justify their joyful learning through the programme.
