"My baby has started waking more overnight, should I give her a bottle of formula at bedtime?"

This is quite a common question and there is a lot of misunderstanding surrounding night-time waking, bedtime milk feeds and introducing a bedtime formula bottle.

*DISCLAIMER: we are not interested in judging parent's feeding decisions (and neither should you) and we support babies fed by breast, bottle or both.

In this week's video, Nicky explains how it isn't necessarily the formula that makes some bottle-fed babies appear to sleep better overnight.

We would always look at other causes of increased night waking too, because in a lot of cases:

➕Your baby's nap structure needs some tweaking
➕Your baby is waking to have a sleep association replicated
➕If your baby is around 6 months they might be ready for solids to be introduced
➕Your baby is getting too cold overnight
➕Something else in their sleep environment is bothering them (maybe it's time to lose the swaddle or introduce some white noise).
