It's a Slasher film and not the more popular Giallo films from Italy. And it's a kick-butt slasher! Stage Fright has the right mixture of style, direction, plot, and music that make you want to revisit it time and time again.

Stage Fright, like most beautiful Italian cinema from the ’80s, focuses on style over substance. It’s a beautiful film full of sharp cinematography, great lighting, and great set design. Acting, while good for this type of film, isn’t the best. Dialogue feels stiff at times and characters, while mostly believable, feel one-dimensional at times.

But I don’t watch raunchy Italian slashers for their compelling characters. I watch them for their stunning visuals, gore, and soundtrack, and stage fright delivers all the above.
