Veteran Promised Citizenship for Service was Deported

This man, who wants to remain anonymous, served in the United States Military. He had lived in the U.S. since he was 8 and was promised citizenship if he enlisted in the Armed Forces. That never happened. He committed a petty crime to get money for his son who was in trouble and went to jail on felony charges. AFter his release, he was deported to Mexico where he had no friends or family for 13. He was allowed back for medical help through the VA but still has his case pending and could be sent back to Mexico.

Far too many illegal citizens are enlisting under the promise of a path to citizenship which is an empty promise. If they commit a crime even something like a DUI they are sent to their home countries regardless of how long they've lived in the U.S.

This is not an immigration issue. This is a Military issue that needs to be resolved. When someone signs up to protect our country, they deserve to be a citizen of this country, in our opion at VetComm
