This joint scientific conference aimed at discussing regional issues on climate change & food security and how the link to policy formulation and east African integration.

Research is expected to inform policy, programs and decision making in support of sustainable development in the LVB. Dissemination of research findings supported by LVBC and IUCEA/VicRes is one of the ways in which stakeholders get to know about the outcomes and benefits of the studies undertaken in the LVB. The IUCEA/VicRes-LVBC joint scientific conference provides a good opportunity to strengthen the collaboration between the institutions and permits sharing of information for the benefit of the local communities and other users of research information.

The following were the expected outcomes:
Stakeholders shall have a good understanding and appreciation of the research and innovation activities that have been undertaken by IUCEA/VicRes and LVBC and shall support research in the East Africa region.

The end users of research results shall access and use research information available at IUCEA and LVBC while respecting the intellectual property rights of researchers and innovators.

Stakeholders from the private sector (industry) shall pursue joint activities with researchers and take up research products of commercial value for further development beyond VicRes programme.
