World War II Vets who are too frail to care for themselves but don't want to be in a nursing home are being assisted by members of the Remodelers Council of the Homebuilders Association of Greater Des Moines. With donated materials and labor, a half bath and closet at the Veteran's Administration Medical Foster Home in Cambridge, Iowa, operated by Scott and Marilyn Olson, is being converted to a fully accessible bathroom. "Remodelers Council members are committed to serving our community. This bathroom will include a barrier free shower, so the vets can feel more independent and safe in this remodeled bath," says Barry Elings, Special Events Chairperson of the Remodelers Council. Another on-going project of the Remodelers Council is a program with Remodelers Council members assisting families of Iowa National Guard Troops deployed to Afghanistan.
