Lethal Weapon (NES, Unlicensed version) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

Описание к видео Lethal Weapon (NES, Unlicensed version) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Aoji Go Go's unlicensed 1994 light gun shooter for the Nintendo Famicom, Lethal Weapon.

Contrary to what the title seems to imply, this bootleg cart has nothing to do with the Lethal Weapon movies. It is an unauthorized 8-bit adaptation of Konami's arcade game Lethal Enforcers, and a surprisingly competent one to boot.

Of course, much of the game was cut in the process, but given the NES's limitations, I wasn't expecting so much to still be intact. The six stages are limited to just a couple of screens that slide back and forth, but many of the bad guys and backdrops are here in clearly recognizable form. You still charge, with guns blazing, through a bank, a subway platform, an O'Hare runway, and a chemical plant, and the famous scene where you take on terrorist-filled Cadillac sedans is present and accounted for!

The graphics look great, especially for a bootleg game. The scrolling is smooth, and the enemies are huge and nicely resemble the original digitized versions. There aren't many of them, but considering the quality, it seems like a fair sacrifice.

The gameplay is fairly solid, too. You can play with a controller or the Zapper. The controller works fine, but I'd recommend the light gun. Even though the hit detection can be a little wonky at times, the Zapper is a satisfying stand-in for the bright blue Justifier.

And that ending. I love its take on the English language. "Dangerness" gave me a good laugh.

I had no idea that this existed until it was pointed out by @Retro, Vice President of Bobux Inc. Thanks! I haven't been able to find much of anything on the internet about it, but I thought that it was more than novel enough to be worth sharing with everybody. It's not as good as Sunsoft's Freedom Force, but it's far better than stuff like Baby Boomer.

It's neat. I liked it.

Just do yourself a favor and turn the sound down.

And for comparisons' sake, here are some playthroughs I've done of other versions of Lethal Enforcers:

SNES:    • Видео

Genesis:    • Lethal Enforcers (Genesis) Playthroug...
