How Islanders Get Through Winter

Autumn and winter for islanders means time for yourself, friends and club life again. In October, we first go on holiday to Scotland. Until the end of the year, we walk a lot on Vlieland, enjoying the autumn and the fact that you hardly meet anyone. Folkert goes to see his parents and participates in dressing up, a Vlielander tradition during Sinterklaas. Nancy goes to Nightwish's long-awaited concert in Amsterdam.
The brass band goes through the village early on Christmas Day to play carols and during New Year's Eve, moped riders drive through the village with a lot of noise to usher in the New Year.

Het najaar en de winter betekent voor eilanders dat er weer tijd is voor jezelf, vrienden en het verenigingsleven. In oktober gaan wij eerst op vakantie naar Schotland. Tot aan het einde van het jaar wandelen we veel op Vlieland, genietend van de herfst en het feit dat je bijna niemand tegenkomt. Folkert gaat naar zijn ouders en doet mee aan opkleden, een Vlielander traditie tijdens Sinterklaas. Nancy gaat naar het langverwachte concert van Nightwish in Amsterdam.
De fanfare gaat op eerste kerstdag in alle vroegte door het dorp om kerstliederen te spelen en tijdens oudjaar wordt er met veel herrie door brommerrijders door het dorp te rijden om het nieuwe jaar in te luiden.
