Cold intolerance (abnormal cold intolerance) can be a common symptom that develops in the first few months after a hand injury - including #handfracture - and can persist for years. It's often more than just feeling chilled and can include pain, numbness, stiffness, and changes in skin color in response to cold temperatures. In some patients, cold intolerance can be severely disabling.

Cold intolerance is not necessarily related to the severity of the injury, and symptoms usually remain the same or worsen over time less than 10% of patients experiencing improvement. To manage cold intolerance, patients can try adaptive strategies, warming interventions, and desensitization conditioning programs #brokenhand #handfracture #coldintolerance
