Tahir is an architect and planning researcher, till 2022 he served as the convener of the Charles Correa Foundation in Goa, where he led a team of Fellows in urban design projects in the state as well as research and publications on architecture across India.

A graduate of the Goa College of Architecture, most of his experience has been in design to conserve heritage — both natural and built. Tahir’s areas of interest are social work, planning and public policy, and in his free time, he is an active member of several citizen-action groups in the city of Panjim (where he was born) and in the village of Neura (where he now lives) Goa. He is a former member of the Panaji City Corporation's Road Safety Advisory Committee and presently serves on the Neura Village Panchayat Biodiversity Committee.
