Financial institutions play a major role in economic justice given the incredible resources at their disposal. Red lining, unfair lending practices, and lack of access to financial tools, have long impacted our fight for equity.

To address these issues, and to reach its goal of increasing Black wealth, U.S. Bank has partnered with 11 Black community leaders in the Twin Cities to walk side-by-side with them and make sure their voices are heard.

“I am here to make sure U.S. Bank knows we are worth way more than any bank has ever valued us at, and I am there to fight to be sure that every resource possible…is leveraged to make sure that Black people prosper, ” says Tawanna Black, CEO of the Center for Economic Inclusion.

The Access Commitment Advisory Group will meet once per quarter, and executives at the bank say they also see the individuals in this group as their accountability partners. It’s objective is to create a strategy that addresses the racial wealth disparities both in our State and across our nation.

“We want to begin by listening to the community. We want to learn from their experience and the work that they are doing every single day and then take action,” says Greg Cunningham, Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Diversity Officer at U.S. Bank.
