Avoid generic link text like "Click Here," "More," and "Read More." These links can be confusing when a screen reader reads them out.
Avoid very long link text. A small sentence can be a link but not a whole paragraph.
Hyperlink text should not consist of the URL
If a hyperlink downloads a file, be sure to mention that.
If a hyperlink opens in a new browser tab or window, mention that.
Give hyperlink text a different color from the surrounding text.
Hyperlink text is usually blue but may be any color that contrasts sufficiently with surrounding colors.
Use the same color for all hyperlinks in a document or web page.
If an image functions as a link, the image must have alt text that conveys the location and purpose of the link. The alt text should not describe the image. Treat image links as links, not as images.
Pages should not have more than one link to the same destination next to each other.
Links with the same text should have a similar purpose. It means they should be linked to the same destination.
