Evening in the Fes Medina

The city of Fes is an actual living ancient monument. A UNESCO World Heritage listed city the walled Medina dates back 1200 years. There are almost 10,000 cobbled laneways in this, the world's largest living medieval Islamic city and its largest pedestrian zone.

At this time of year, evenings are the best time to wander the laneways of the medina full of everything from leather wares to carpets, food vendors, and of course souvenirs. But this is not simply a commercial and retail zone.
