Day 1 of our 4-day bike touring adventure along the Flint Hills Trail takes us from Council Grove to Osage City. Traveling light this time without our camping gear, my dad is riding his new Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0 Step-Thru e-bike, while I’m on my trusty, bulletproof Surly Bridge Club. We’re on a journey to ride from Council Grove to Osawatomie and back, staying at Airbnbs and motels along the way. On this leg of our bike ride, we pedal through the surreal beauty of the Flint Hills, finishing the day at a cozy Airbnb cabin, ‘Maurice and Cindy's Place,’ in Osage City—a perfect start to our bike touring adventure.
