Today in this session we will learn 3 important properties as well as Proof of Basic Proportionality Theorem.

THEOREM 6.1
Let us now state the Basic Proportionality Theorem which is as follows:
If a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle intersecting the other two sides in distinct points, then the other two sides are divided in the same ratio.

Property 1: Triangles drawn between two parallel lines with same base have equal areas.
Property 2: Ratio of areas of triangles with equal height is equal to the ratio of their bases.
Property 3: A line parallel to one side of a triangle divides the other two sides in equal proportion.
