An Exploration of GeoPackages

Описание к видео An Exploration of GeoPackages

Video #58
In this video I take a look at GeoPackages (.gpkg) as a way to transfer data across OpenSource and Commercial GIS Platforms.

You will see me:
1. Create a geopackage from QGIS
2. Take a look inside the actual SQL Lite database (.gpkg file) using DB Browser.
3. Display the geopackage feature class in both ArcGIS Pro and MapInfo
4. Load Raster data into the same geopackage
5. Take another quick look inside the database
6. Display the raster layer in QGIS

I have used GeoPackages with vectors a fair bit but hardly at all with Rasters. So this video mainly covers Vector data. HOWEVER, at the last minute I decided to just continue into the world of Raster storage in SQL Lite.
After 13:30 its somewhat improvised as its a bit of a learning exercise but I did get to the bottom of the .WAL file! I successfully load/display SRTM data and show how its stored in the SQL Lite database alongside the Vector feature classes.
I will be doing more on raster in GeoPackages in the future.
