This video demonstrates to the viewer how to visually determine the Qibla direction in a location simply by using a small globe and a measuring tape, with North America as an example. Using a globe allows us to consider Earth's curvature, which is a physical reality that must be accounted for. The measuring tape ensures that the path, and thus the direction, we establish is in fact the direct and straight path, which only curves due to the curvature of the Earth's surface. An incorrect path would be indicated by the warping and twisting of the measuring tape, indicating that path would twist and curve on the surface and not be straight.

This video clearly and physically proves that the Qibla direction in North America is North East, and a South East direction would not be incorrect.

This demonstration was guided and inspired by Shaykh Nuh Ha Meem Keller's book "Port in a Storm: A Fiqh Solution to the Qibla of North America", which is vital reading in our times. Specifically,

"To confirm the latter, one but has to take a globe, put a flexible ruler on one's position in North America with the other end on Mecca, holding it fast to the globe, and take a look. The Kaaba is that direction, it is the straight line of travel, and it begins facing northeast. It is the plainest proof of the North American qibla that there is." [p. 14]
