Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday launched a sharp attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing the state government of deliberately withholding land for border fencing along the India–Bangladesh border. Shah said the delay has directly contributed to illegal infiltration, cross-border crime, and poses a serious threat to national security.

Addressing a public gathering, the Home Minister asserted that securing India’s borders is a top priority for the BJP-led central government. He further declared that the Bharatiya Janata Party will put an end to infiltration and form the next government in West Bengal with a decisive two-thirds majority in the 2026 Assembly elections.

The remarks have intensified the political battle in the state, bringing border security, infiltration, and Centre–State relations to the forefront of the upcoming electoral discourse.
