Rockford Fosgate PBR400X4D car amp in the glove box. There are 2 or 3 potential places under the dash for placement, but why not the glove compartment which in most cases serves to hold pieces of paper like registration and insurance. There are multiple compartments to store documentation like that. The visible black wire is hooked up to a dashcam.

I used Velcro to hold the amp in place and make it easily movable. Not sure of the interior temperature, but it was 35 degrees outside at the time of the video. Class D amps are noted for providing surprising power without much heat.

From the website: "The Rockford PBR400X4D is a full-range 4-channel amplifier designed for stereo front/rear systems that requires little space. The BRT (Boosted Rail Technology) is an ultra efficient design that generates 400 Watts of power!" They test them before shipping and this one maxed out at about 450 watts according to the documentation. It delivers 50 watts continuous for each of four channels.

The issue with Class D amps is can that power and efficiency produce the sound quality of other older, larger, hotter, less efficient types of amps?

The resulting performance increase with this amp upgrade provides enough bass even with the four 6 1/2" door speakers for most music so adding a Punch PS-8 subwoofer system with the built-in 150 watt amplifier is not necessary unless for DJ type material.
