This reading took place as part of The Fiddlehead's Issue 301 Autumn 2024 Launch on Thursday, November 21, 2024. This event was supported in part by the Government of Canada, the Canada Council for the Arts, Arts Culture NB, and the University of New Brunswick.

Sneha Subramanian Kanta is an academician with over fifteen years of international teaching experience. Her collection Hiraeth is an honouree in The 2024 RBC Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers and is published digitally and as an audiobook in partnership with Apple Books and Penguin Random House Canada. An award-winning writer, her work has received recognition and support from several institutions including Ontario Arts Council, The Writers' Union of Canada, The Charles Wallace Trust, The Vijay Nambisan Foundation, The Writers' Trust of Canada, Rutgers-Camden Poets and Scholars Retreat among others. Her work has been widely anthologized internationally including in The Penguin Book of Indian Poets. (ed. Jeet Thayil) published by The Penguin Random House imprint Hamish Hamilton. She is one of the founding editors of Parentheses Journal.

This event washosted from the traditional unceded territory of Wəlastəkewiyik. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship which the Wəlastəkewiyik, Mi’kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati peoples first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized Wəlastəkewiyik, Mi’kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
