Скачать или смотреть Sketching M39 at the Eyepiece

M39 is a large open cluster in the constellation Cygnus, that I believe just barely fit in my field of view. While the cluster takes up more sky than the full moon, it is a relatively loose cluster with only some 30 confirmed stars. The stars that make up this cluster are relatively bright and easy to make out even in a pair of binoculars or a small telescope. Best viewed with the lowest magnification in order to fit the whole cluster in your view.

This sketch was done on black canson paper with white charcoal pencil and a kneaded eraser to dim some of the stars placed in the sketch to give it more overall depth.
