How should the European Parliament help our sector achieve fully circular beverage packaging?

Ahead of the European Parliament's Environment Committee's vote on its amendments to the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), UNESDA's President Peter Harding asks MEPs to support three key conditions:

a wider rollout of Deposit and Return Systems (DRS) across Europe;
a priority access to ensure beverage packaging can be recycled in new beverage packaging, when technically feasible and when it makes sense from an environmental viewpoint;
a sound approach to reuse and refill that ensures the complementarity of recycling and reusable systems and promotes innovation in packaging reduction systems by considering the whole spectrum of reusable and refillable systems (including refill-at-home and on-the-go solutions) in the reuse and refill targets.
