During the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, the sacred banks of Triveni Sangam witnessed a historic moment as Srila Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of ISKCON, was honoured with the esteemed title of ‘Vishwa Guru’ by the Akhila Bharatiya Akhara Parishad.

The grand ceremony was attended by hundreds of pilgrims and devotees from the Hare Krishna movement, along with revered sadhus, mahants, and Acharya Mahamandaleshwars of various Akharas. Srila Prabhupada is the first and only personality in history to receive this prestigious title.

The event featured samprokshana (sprinkling) with the sacred waters of the Sangam and a magnificent shower of flowers upon Srila Prabhupada, accompanied by the chanting of Vedic mantras. On this occasion, the President of the Akhila Bharatiya Akhara Parishad and Mahamandaleshwars from various Akharas glorified Srila Prabhupada for his unparalleled contribution to spreading Sanatana dharma across the world.

Sri Madhu Pandit Dasa, President of ISKCON Bangalore, highlighted Srila Prabhupada’s immense sacrifice and literary legacy, which continues to inspire countless souls to embrace the path of Krishna bhakti.

Swami Kailashanand Giri Ji Maharaj, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of Niranjani Akhara, stated that the significance of the ‘Vishwa Guru’ title has only grown by being conferred upon Srila Prabhupada. He also congratulated the devotees of ISKCON Bangalore for their unwavering dedication to Srila Prabhupada’s mission.
