Colorless metals like white gold and platinum are still the industry standard but their counterparts of rose and yellow gold have been steadily gaining in popularity over the past six to 7 years. At first it was rose gold that was the colored metal of choice but now yellow gold has taken over that top spot. Both offer a nice way to add a pop of color to your look and give it a unique appearance. When using a colorless center-stone, the backdrop of the metal color can make it really stand out

-Yellow gold is the most traditional, considering that gold in its original state is this color. Yellow gold has a more vibrant appearance and makes more of a statement.

-Rose, or pink, gold has been around for a long time, but is more of the newcomer to this field and is made by mixing copper to the alloy in order to give the metal a pinkish hue. Rose gold is a more subdued color and blends in well with all skin tones

-For our clients who request a metal color we often suggest that they create the ring in two-tone; the reason for this is that metal color surrounding the center-stone (either the prongs or entire top of the ring) can ‘bleed’ into the center-stone and make it look darker. Putting a diamond in a yellow or rose gold top can make it look slightly darker and few grades lower in color. Some clients do not mind this and prefer to have the ring a uniform color
