 January is a big month for Apple TV series and subscribers, with brand new releases and 2026 Golden Globes winners and nominees ranking among the best shows to binge-watch this week, January 12–16, 2026.  While we still have a bit of a wait before Drops of God season 2 and Shrinking season 3 arrive later this month, a binge-worthy thriller series returns for its second season in just a matter of days. Apple TV's very best were just acknowledged at the Golden Globes, and one standout series took home awards in two major categories. Hijack  The most anticipated series to return on Apple TV this week is Hijack, starring the incomparable Idris Elba. Following the events of the 7-part first season, in which Elba's protagonist, professional negotiator Sam Nelson, finds himself aboard a hijacked flight, season 2 switches gears and places Sam in a similar predicament on a subway train in Berlin, Germany.  Hijack season 2 will premiere on Apple TV this Wednesday, January 14, followed by weekly episode drops every Wednesday through late February, totaling 8 episodes.
