On the 18th of March, the BLS ran a charter from Derby to Whitby with Hanson & Hall 50008 "Thunderer" and Scottish Railway Preservation Society's 37403 "Isle of Mull". As there was strike action taking place on Northern services this day, the tour had the whole Esk Valley Line to itself, and thus the advantage was taken to cover every last inch of track, including the run round loop and headshunt at Battersby, the run round loop at Whitby and Bog Hall Sidings also at Whitby.
