When Sages Sought Divine Refuge: A Plea to Rama

In a moment of profound dread, witnessing the brutal and deceitful acts of the rakshasas, even the most revered sages trembled.
Like the devas who, overwhelmed by the fearsome poison from the cosmic ocean, instinctively turned to Lord Shiva for salvation,
these great ascetics, in their deepest hour of need, sought the divine embrace of Rama.
With hearts full of surrender, they cried out, "Oh, one with the hue of dark kohl! We seek refuge in you!"
A poignant testament to the unwavering faith in a protector far greater than any earthly power.

நஞ்சு அட எழுதலும் நடுங்கி, நாள்மதிச்
செஞ் சடைக் கடவுளை அடையும் தேவர்போல்,
வஞ்சனை அரக்கரை வெருவி, மா தவர்,
‘அஞ்சனவண்ண! நின் அபயம் யாம்’ என்றார்.

நஞ்சின் கோரத் தோற்றத்தால் அண்டமே நடுங்க, ஆலகால விஷத்தின் தாக்கத்திலிருந்து தம்மைக் காக்க, பிறை சூடிய செஞ்சடைக் கடவுளைத் தேவர்கள் சரணடைந்தனர்.
அதேபோல, வஞ்சனையும் கொடுமையும் நிறைந்த அரக்கர்களின் மாயச் செயல்களையும் வெறியாட்டத்தையும் கண்ட மா தவசீலர்கள், மனம் கலங்கி நடுங்கினர்.
தங்களின் தவ வலிமை யாவற்றையும் மறந்து, ‘அஞ்சனவண்ணனே! நீலமேக சியாமளனே! உன்னுடைய அபயமே எமக்கு வேண்டும்’ என ஒருமித்துக் குரல் கொடுத்தனர்.
இது, எத்தகைய பெரியோர்களும் பரம்பொருளின் பாதுகாப்பை நாடும் உன்னத தத்துவத்தை உணர்த்துகிறது.
