From hitch pin to closing wheels, Kinze plans to introduce a new 5670 pivot fold, split-row model planter for the 2025 planting season.

"It's kind of the next member of our 5000 series family," says Kinze product specialist Brad Niensteadt. In this report from Commodity Classic in Houston, Texas, he tells RealAgriculture's Bernard Tobin that the new planter will deliver enhanced productivity, increased operator convenience and will be more serviceable for growers.

Kinze introduced its first 5000 series model planters in 2023 in and 20- and 30-inch configurations. "This is the next step in a new pivot fold design supporting our 15- and 30-inch split row configurations," says Niensteadt. The 5670 is available in 12/23-row and 16/31-row configurations, and plants both 15- and 30-inch row widths. It can be used as a dedicated narrow-row planter or a multi-crop planter.

Niensteadt says the planter's lift-and-pivot frame provides both balance and stability in the field as well as the narrow width required for road transport.

In the video below, Niensteadt reviews 5670 features and options which include: an all-new robust frame with 24 inches of toolbar clearance and 12 inches of row unit travel; Kinze's 5000 Series electric drive pull and push row units; and the Blue Vantage display-controlled onboard 300-gallon fertilizer system.

There's also reduced maintenance requirements with greaseless and shim-less gauge wheel pivot arms, large cast parallel arms equipped with double bushings, and disc openers with double-row bearings and hardened scrapers.
