How to Knit: The BICKFORD SEAM | Flat Vertical Seaming on STOCKINETTE Stitch | Tutorial

Описание к видео How to Knit: The BICKFORD SEAM | Flat Vertical Seaming on STOCKINETTE Stitch | Tutorial

The Bickford seam is an alternative vertical seaming technique to the popular mattress stitch, and unlike the mattress stitch it results in a flat seam on the front and back of the knitting.
This is therefore a great technique to use for hats and similar items, where the 'ridge' created by the mattress stitch method would be uncomfortable.

The downside of the Bickford seam compared to the mattress stitch is that it's not as sturdy, and also it's more visible on the right side of the knitting.

The method is nice and simple though, as it just involves going through either 'knots' or 'loops' right on the edge of the stockinette stitch selvedges.

I hope the video is useful to you!
