Montana Cowboy - Osborne Brothers

The Osborne Brothers always featured their talented sidemen during shows, and this wonderfully musical (and hilarious) version of the old Vern & Ray song, "Montana Cowboy," with the lead part sung by fabulous dobro player Gene Wooten, shows why that was such a great thing to do.

This was recorded by KET (Kentucky Educational Television) in May, 1997, for the "Kentucky festival music" series called "Jubilee." At that time, "Jubilee" was produced and directed by my friend Russ Farmer, who had a profound understanding of bluegrass music, which shows in the way he directed his crew to get super closeups of the musicians as they played and sang.
