Route: Freta St. - Passing through the Barbican (city wall) - Nowomiejska St. - Old Town Market Place - Świętojańska St.
Via: Street Art displays along the walls, Outdoor cafes in the Market Square
Ending Point: Castle Square (Plac Zamkowy), in front of Sigismund's Column and the Royal Castle

[Highlights]
The Barbican: A beautiful semicircular red-brick fortified outpost connecting the Old and New Towns. Don't miss the paintings and artists lining the walls.
Old Town Market Place: A square surrounded by buildings with colorful facades. It features the Mermaid Statue (Syrenka) at its center and is lined with many restaurants.
Cobblestone Streets: The narrow, atmospheric alleys and the passing horse-drawn carriages create a picturesque scene.
Castle Square: The final destination of our walk. The vast square, the towering Sigismund's Column, and the majestic Royal Castle offer a breathtaking view.

[Historical Background]
The Historic Centre of Warsaw was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1980. Most of this beautiful cityscape was systematically destroyed by Nazi Germany during World War II. However, after the war, it was meticulously rebuilt from the rubble through the indomitable spirit and passion of the citizens of Warsaw. It is a rare example of a World Heritage site recognized for its "reconstruction from destruction," honoring the precision of the restoration and the dedication of its people. Every cobblestone and building you see tells a story of resilience and the desire for peace.
