Macross 2036 came out for the PC Engine Super CD-ROM in 1992 by Masaya. It was a side scrolling shooter that tells the events following the movie. However, it follows the timeline of Macross II: Lovers Again which is now separate from the mainline series.

I will be using machine translated captions for the verbal parts of the game, and do not expect them to be accurate. Hopefully it will still give an idea of what's happening.
