BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (KUTV) — The FBI and a state cyber-crimes task force are investigating a data breach at Box Elder County government offices that seems to have rendered some computers unusable.

2News asked about the breach on Wednesday morning, and the country responded hours later with a statement, saying it “recently experienced a cybersecurity incident”—-which was serious enough to launch the criminal probe.

“We’re working to investigate the situation fully in an attempt to ensure that no information has been compromised,“ said the statement. “Box Elder County immediately undertook extensive remediation action and launched an investigation to confirm the full nature and scope of the activity.”
