No one in the Mongolian homeland had forgotten the torture and humiliation suffered by Genghis Khan's great-grandfather Ambakay Khan in the Beijing palace. Ambakay had died while being tortured in Chinese dungeons. So for Genghis Khan, conquering the Jin Empire was a matter of revenge.
