A devastating accident has occurred today, January 22, 2026, at the high-altitude Khani Top on the Bhaderwah-Chamba interstate road. An Indian Army bulletproof vehicle (Casspir), carrying 17-21 personnel toward a high post, lost control and plunged over 200 feet into a deep gorge in the Thanala area of Bhaderwah, Doda district.
Initial reports confirm that 10 brave soldiers have lost their lives, while 11 others are battling injuries. Local residents from Thanala and nearby Bhaderwah town were the first to reach the site, launching a heroic rescue mission alongside the Army and Police.
