There are no guarantees, but the love of Christ is the only thing that will sustain you. It’s up to each of us to trust in His Teachings. But then it comes down to what does trusting in Christ look like?
When you have crippling social anxiety, but you put your trust in Christ, there should be a peace that now guides you. You’re no longer searching your thoughts for possible outcomes, usually the absolute worst ones, and you speak to each person with genuine compassion and love. No longer is the anxiety enslaving you. Christ frees you from the chains of oppression.
This applies to many different aspects of our lives, because we all have weaknesses and vices with their boot heel on our throat. If you have an addiction you cannot overcome, Christ gives you a will to break free, and a hope to sustain you. When you feel the unrelenting pull to take a drink or a drug, you have strength that was tapped from unseen source, but that source is incomprehensibly powerful and allows you to use that power as you put your trust in it.
Why is this source more powerful than all else? We can certainly find hope and strength in almost anything outside of ourselves, and even sometimes within ourselves, but those things are built on a foundation made of sand. The Power of the Holy Spirit has proven to radically transform anyone who abides in Him.
God is the source of all that is good because God is love and creation. He nurtures His Creation with that love, and weeds out all that will corrupt or destroy, but uses those things to make struggles that will shape us, because evil and suffering bring about curiosity and growth, which are both vital for love to exist.
When someone has an objection to Christianity, it’s always because they think they know better, or there is something more convenient to their lifestyle they choose to accept. Adam and Eve saw the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil as a better path forward than living according to God’s Plan. This was a reflection of the Devil’s Pride before them. Make no mistake, we all choose the same path as Adam and Eve.
(Jeremiah 17:9-10) “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.””
(2 Timothy 3:16) “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,”
(Galatians 5:13-15) “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.”
