[009] Lego Technic - Pascaline #02

Описание к видео [009] Lego Technic - Pascaline #02

this is a Lego replica of the mechanical calculator called Pascaline, invented by Blaise Pascal in 1642 and an improved version of my previous model #01

this version has 6 number positions, all base-ten, and can add multiple terms until 999,999, it can also subtract by means of 9's complement

it works like the original models built by Pascal, with four differences:

- since there are no 10 teeth Lego gear, I used the 20 teeth model, which means that the mechanism 'counts two teeth' for each number

- the input dials of the real Pascaline allowed the user to dial the numbers, much like rotary dial phones, but since I don't have any Lego parts which can mimic that, the input is more difficult: the operator has to count positions to enter the numbers

- the sautoirs, the mechanism that makes the calculator work, (5 of them in this model) are alternated, (left/right/left) as to reduce the overall dimensions

- fully gravitational: instead of relying in spring-like material like the original and my first model

the last images show details of the centerpiece of the Pascaline's carry mechanism: the sautoir
