The conference is a part of the international exhibition project Critique and Crises. Art in Europe since 1945 (The Desire for Freedom. Art in Europe since 1945), which is the 30th Council of Europe Art Exhibition. The exhibition takes place in the German Historical Museum in Berlin (17 October 2012 - 10 February 2013), Palazzo Reale in Milan (15 March - 2 June 2013) and Kumu Art Museum in Tallinn (28 June - 3 November 2013).
