How to Colorize Grayscale Paintings

To colorize a grayscale image, use adjustment layers and blending modes. Start by adjusting the contrast with a levels adjustment layer, then add a color balance layer to infuse color. Use blending modes like overlay, multiply, and color to add and refine colors without losing the original values. Gradient maps can help create smooth transitions between colors.
