On August 3, 2024, the LawSoc and the NLS Feminist Alliance hosted an impactful event titled "The Azadi Question." The event featured selected excerpts from the award-winning documentary A Night of Knowing Nothing (2021), directed by Payal Kapadia, followed by a thought-provoking panel discussion on student activism, protests, and the current Indian political climate. The documentary offers a poignant portrayal of student protests in India since 2014, highlighting the pivotal role of women and feminist organizations in these movements. Through a personal and emotional narrative, the film delves into themes of love, loss, and social challenges in contemporary India. It has received global recognition, including the prestigious L'Œil d'or at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
The event attracted over 80 enthusiastic students for a screening of A Night of Knowing Nothing (2021), followed by a panel discussion featuring prominent activists and scholars.

Panelists:
1. Teesta Setalvad – Renowned civil rights activist, co-founder of Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP), and Padma Shri recipient. Known for her work post-2002 Gujarat riots, providing legal aid to victims of communal violence.
2. Najeebul Hannan – Member of COLLECTIVE Bangalore, a student organization, actively involved in the Anti-CAA movement and a passionate advocate for free and accessible education.
3. Nidha Parveen – Research associate with the India Justice Report and former Vice-President of TISS Student’s Union during the CAA-NRC protests.
4. Prof. Arvind Narrain (Moderator) – Founding member of the Alternative Law Forum and author of Undeclared Emergency, moderated the discussion
