Yep, National Benzole (now known as BP) used to promote advertisements that features Peyo's The Smurfs, and was the first Smurfs media to have The Smurfs themselves being spoken in English, the first advert that features the Smurfs was first aired on ITV on 20th May 1978, during that time, The Smurfs were later became the mascots of National, and sold many merchandise and promotions that includes them, either some of the Smurf characters were worn with the yellow wings at the back, especially the leader National Smurf that was used in any adverts, sometimes the Smurfettes sometimes appear in some National Smurf merchandise, and in one advert as the cheerleaders, and of course, Papa Smurf, National would continue doing the Smufs promotion until 1982, leaving no road for The Smurfs in the 1983 offer, The Smurfs were also promoted in Australia known as BP from 1979 until 1982, with Papa Smurf replacing the National Smurf, but the adverts for the BP Australian adverts that features them (that was animated by a different animation studio) were currently lost, this advert feautres The Smurfs trained for a car repair. (although it was originally aired in colour, but it was shrunken to Black & White for some reason when this advert was put up on History of Advertising Trust site, maybe possibly due to recording's taping problems.)
