The Gray Man is the new Russo Brothers Netflix movie starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans and...it just so happens to be the most expensive Netflix movie ever made. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the price tag had much effect on the final product because while The Gray Man is certainly enjoyable, The Gray Man is a disappointment. Joe and Anthony Russo, for all of their many talents and general affinity for cinema, have really struggled post Avengers Endgame to find their footing outside the MCU umbrella. It's especially frustrating because The Gray Man has all of the pieces, a compelling spy story, great action, a stacked cast, and a massive budget, and yet...squanders it. It doesn't appear interested in delving deep into the themes and ideas that would theoretically make The Gray Man more than your average run-of-the-mill spy thriller. While I wouldn't say The Gray man is bad, it is, unfortunately, disposable; just another bland Netflix original movie chalk full of endless resources yet with the inability to execute on so much potential.
