"Say Old Man, Can You Play Fiddle?" - Daniel Carwile - Camp Sumner Sessions

Описание к видео "Say Old Man, Can You Play Fiddle?" - Daniel Carwile - Camp Sumner Sessions

One of the great things about the National Oldtime Fiddlers’ Contest in Weiser, Idaho is the quality and quantity of jam sessions taking place around the clock in the surrounding campgrounds: Fiddletown, Stickerville, Taylor’s Corner, Slocum Hall, and elsewhere.

A variety of styles are represented depending on which camp you visit at a given time: Bluegrass, Oldtime, Texas style, Swing, Celtic, Jazz, and others.

The little campsite of Scott and Anne Sumner ("Camp Sumner") is just one of a multitude of places where good tunes are enjoyed every year. The “Camp Sumner Sessions” is a series of videos documenting the jamming that took place there during the third full week of June 2015.

The featured fiddlers in this "Camp Sumner Sessions" series are Daniel Carwile from Kentucky, Katrina Nicolayeff from Idaho, and Jesse Maw from Montana.

We kick the series off with Daniel’s “Say Old Man, Can You Play Fiddle?” He is ably accompanied by Bryan "Oak" Jimmerson (Texas) Luke Price (Oregon) and Anne Sumner (Oregon).

At the end of this video Daniel gives some "lick credit" to the late J.T. Perkins, a legendary fiddler from Alabama with a distinct style, who was a major influence on an untold number of fiddlers, including Daniel.

Daniel is featured in several other previously released videos on the Joy of Fiddling channel.
