Kei trucks are banned, are army jeeps next?

Kei trucks are a type of small Japanese pickup truck. People have been importing these small trucks for years, enjoying them and even using them to start small businesses. However, due to overzealous lobbyists and flawed testing, many states are trying to ban these trucks from the road. This is dangerous because many cars and trucks that people love to drive could end up being banned citing the same safety concerns.

First, the test used to ban Kei trucks, didn't even test Kei trucks, they tested "low speed vehicles" which are limited to 25 miles per hour, and despite looking similar to Kei trucks on the surface are not built to anywhere near the same standard. Also, the test crashed a much newer, much bigger vehicle into the truck, and argued that because the dummies in the newer, bigger car fared better, the other truck was unsafe. Aside from the fact that they didn't even actually test a Kei truck, Kei trucks need to be at least 25 years old to be imported, and therefore it is unreasonable to compare them to a truck that meets modern safety standards. Also, the allowance in federal law says that an imported vehicle more than 25 years old is exempt from the federal safety standards.

The problem with banning these trucks, because they're unsafe, is that the same logic can apply to any old car: including muscle cars, hot rods, antique trucks, historic military vehicles, imported Japanese (JDM) or European cars, and even motorcycles.

Speaking of motorcycles, if this was truly about safety and saving lives, they would be advocating harder to ban motorcycles, which are far more popular, more deadly, and still being sold new. (obviously I don't advocate for the banning of motorcycles, I just use it to point out their hypocracy).
