Описание к видео Landing at Qualicum Beach CAT4 on a windy day

This is the end of a short flight I made in December 2013 from Victoria International Airport (CYYJ) to Qualicum Beach Airport (CAT4) for a $100 hamburger at the Final Approach Restaurant.

It was a windy day and we had a lot of shear on final approach and I was close to aborting the landing. However things smoothed out enough at tree height to make the landing possible. Given I had kept my airspeed high to compensate for the gusts I ballooned a bit on the flare but all in all considering the wind I think the landing was fairly good. Two Cessna 172's landed behind us, also looking for an expensive hamburger, so I think my final decision to land was ok.

The Final Approach Restaurant was great and I recommend it to any pilot looking for an excuse to fly in the Vancouver/Victoria area.

The plane was a Cessna 172S C-GXTZ rented from the Victoria Flying Club.
