MP81-18 Margaret and Bess Truman at the White House and Atlantic City

This silent home movie was taken in Washington, D.C., and in Atlantic City, NJ, April 27-28, 1946. It starts in Washington, apparently taken from the roof of the White House, showing the South Lawn, the Washington Monument, the White House fountain, the Rose Garden, and the Old Executive Office Building. First Lady Bess Truman, Mrs. Thomas J. Strickler, Margaret Truman, and Mrs. Madge Gates Wallace (Mrs. Truman's mother) dining around a table. More footage taken from the White House grounds showing the building and fountain, this time including Mr. Thomas J. Strickler.

It cuts to the Atlantic City boardwalk, showing Margaret, the Stricklers, and the First Lady sitting on deck chairs. Margaret, Bess, and Mrs. Strickler wave as they get into a limousine. Final scenes at seashore and in a garden are unidentified.
