Rigging the TS515 Training Scull

How to rig a TS515 Training Scull. And how not to!
Because the TS515 hull is rota-moulded into a polyethylene foam sandwich, there are clever engineering solutions in its design that mean it has to be used in a way that may be unfamiliar, even to experienced scullers.
For example rowing regulations require that flexible shoes, when fixed to the foot plate (stretcher), need to be fitted with heel restraints so that, in the unlikely event of a capsize, the unfortunate sculler's feet may easily be extracted from the shoes whilst upside down in the water.
The TS515 does not have flexible shoes fixed to the stretcher.
Indeed one should not wear shoes in this boat! This video explains why not. Watch and learn.
Another clever feature is the quick release mechanism for the rigger. There is a right way and a wrong way to fit this to the boat. Look for the word EDON, the manufacturer's name, on the cams and make sure it is visible on top when the rigger is fixed.
These are a couple of the simple things that you need to take care of when rigging your TS515 to prolong its life and to ensure safe and proper use.
