Roussanne is a funny grape that's grown in the northern Rhone have a southern Rhone you find it in Hermitage Blanc but you'd also find it in Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc. it seems to do it's a healthy vine in the south the north is its prone to a lot of disease and so forth it makes more exquisite wine in the north and the cooler climate but in the south it maybe makes us slightly more rustic one roussanne is a fairly tannic white grape which is kind of odd it lives, it produces a wine that lives for a long time often the wine is quite angular when its young sort of all elbows but softens it has an astringency which is both off-putting when you drink it out of its own but it makes it a wonderful food wine so roussanne pairs well actually with extremely rich dish is anything with lots of butter or cream fat of any kind makes it makes a lovely combination things like lobster very rich dishes like that work work really really well what would you enjoy about working what I like working with Roussanne because I like making wines that have capability of aging and there aren't that many white grapes that really have great aging potential Roussanne on certainly certainly is one of them
